Below is the recap courtesy of the OHSAA:
Girls Division I
Strongsville bests Lewis Center Olentangy 3-1, wins fifth girls soccer state title
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Strongsville captured its fifth girls soccer state crown after defeating Lewis Center Olentangy 3-1 in the 2020 OHSAA Division I girls soccer state championship at MAPFRE Stadium on Friday, November 13.
The Mustangs (20-0-0) capped off a perfect season to bring home state title number five, second-most in OHSAA girls soccer.
Lewis Center Olentangy (18-3-2) was making its first trip to an OHSAA girls soccer state championship. The Braves were led offensively by sophomore Lexi White, who scored the goal for Olentangy, and senior captain Kylee Beinecke, who recorded the assist.
Strongsville junior Coley Sidloski, senior Shelby Sallee and sophomore Taylor Demmerle each finished with goals for the Mustangs. Sidloski also finished with a pair of assists for Strongsville, while junior Libby Majka also recorded an assist.
Sallee opened the scoring for Strongsville just 6:26 into the contest. After a shot by Sidloski was deflected, Sallee found the back of the net off the rebound to put Strongsville ahead, 1-0.
Olentangy equalized the match 16:25 into the first half, after White scored on a pass from Beinecke to tie the contest at 1-1.
A Strongsville goal from Demmerle on an assist from Sidloski just before half gave the Mustangs a 2-1 lead heading into the break.
Strongsville held a 22-4 shot advantage on the night, and that advantage was illustrated through a third goal with just over 15 minutes to play. A chip pass from Majka found its way to the right foot of Sidloski, who put a well-struck ball into the back of the net for Strongsville’s third goal of the evening, sealing the 3-1 victory and fifth Mustang state title.

WINTER SPORTS REMINDERS
Pay to Participate fees are DUE prior to the first competition (scrimmage or regular season game). Also, if you have any prior year fees, those are to be paid before participation can take place in any sport.
WINTER SPORTS PARENT MEETING
The mandatory winter sports parent meeting will be on Final Forms on Monday. This is a combination of video and Powerpoint. Please make sure you view this so you understand the policies and procedures for the programs. Individual sports will also have their own parent meetings.
ELIGIBILITY
The OHSAA has waived the Eligibility requirements for the 2nd quarter. What does this mean? This means student-athletes who necessarily did NOT meet all the requirements are still eligible to compete in sports through the 1st semester. At the end of the 1st semester/2nd quarter, is when eligibility will start back up. That means at the conclusion of the 2nd quarter, if student athletes want to be eligible to participate in the remaining winter sports season as well as the beginning of the spring sports season, they will have to pass the equivalent of 5 credit courses. The GPA requirements per the district are still in effect, so student athletes will need to have at least a 2.0 GPA or they will be placed on an academic watch program. If you have questions, please contact the Athletic Office.
If you have questions on the registration process, please do not hesitate to reach out to the athletic department.

What did playing a sport at SHS mean to you?
I have watched the Strongsville Lady Mustangs play since I was a little girl, dreaming about one day playing on Foltz 7, making a big play off run, and being a player that little girls could look up to (like many of the previous Lady mustangs were to me). Playing for Strongsville is so much bigger than just me, it’s playing for the past players that created this amazing legacy, and for the future players that will carry it on. It has truly been an honor to play at Strongsville and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Favorite High School Sports Memory:
My favorite memories were the bus rides to Boston, Knoxville, and New York City, and the live concert that the team got to be a part of while in Nashville, Tennessee.

What did playing a sport at SHS mean to you?
Playing here at SHS and playing on the field number 7 meant everything to me, as a kid I dreamed of playing there. I got to watch amazing players go through this program on the sideline as my father coached. Then I got the chance of playing here which is so amazing. I really want to thank all the coaches, Nick and JR for always picking me up and helping me out, Coach Church for always pushing me to do more and give everything to the team. Lastly, I would like to thank my family for always being there for me and believing in everything I do.
Favorite High School Sports Memory:
My favorite high school memory were all three of the trips the Soccer team took. From paddling boarding in the freezing water in Boston, to climbing and walking down to see a waterfall in Nashville and finally biking all around New York with my team.
